A man is in jail without bond in the Nash County Detention Center on rape charges and on another criminal sexual misconduct-related charge, Rocky Mount police said in a news release Wednesday.

Kyle Sanders, 50, was arrested after officers on Tuesday responded to a residence in the 800 block of South Tillery Street after receiving information about the location of a missing juvenile and a wanted person, police said.

Officers took Sanders into custody because numerous warrants had been issued for his arrest, police said.

The juvenile, who was reported missing Monday, was found inside the residence and taken to UNC Health Nash as a precaution, police said.

Sanders is charged with one count of second-degree forcible rape, three counts of statutory rape and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said.

According to N.C. Public Safety records, Sanders has convictions extending from as recently as September 2023 to as far back as 1992, all in Edgecombe County.

The records state that Sanders has been convicted for assault on a female and simple assault or affray in addition to breaking and entering, drug-related convictions and traffic-related convictions.
