ROGERS, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas received a $5 million gift from the Walmart Foundation.

About half of that will go to build a dedicated interventional radiology suite at the Rogers campus.

The hospital hasn’t announced where the remaining funds will go, but all of it will be used for facilities, medical staff and programs to help people around the area.

“When you get a gift like this, $5 million, that enables us to accelerate and maybe pull some things forward that we weren’t anticipating that we could’ve done maybe in a year, year and a half, 2 years, so it really just helps us accelerate on this overall master plan,” said Ryan Gehrig, president of Mercy Arkansas Communities.

The hospital is hoping to have that radiology suite up and running within 7 months.
