TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - An East Texas organization is helping raise scholarship money for students looking to enroll with UT-Austin. Texas Exes is involved in the community and they give east Texans the with scholarships to attend UT-Austin. The President of the organization, Dr. Jerry Scharzbach, shared what he really likes about his organization.
Students Face High-Risk Issues Due to RRISD Budget Deficit
Due to Round Rock ISD (RRISD)’s $31 million projected budget deficit — a continuation of a pattern of money shortages across Central Texas school districts — the district was pushed to cut some classes, affecting students’ four-year course plans. To address the issue, the RRISD Board of Trustees approved a $466 million general fund budget, which overcame the deficit but called attention to issues with allocation of funds within the district.
IDEA Public Schools teams up with iHeart Media for backpack giveaway events
PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — IDEA Public Schools partnered with iHeart Media to host one of two back-to-school backpack giveaways Sunday. The first took place at IDEA Pflugerville Academy and College Preparatory from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and the second will take place at IDEA Bluff Springs Academy and College Preparatory on Saturday, July 27 from noon to 2 p.m.

First SHIFT magazine offers students opportunity to share their college substance use, wellness experiences
For years, UT’s SHIFT program has prioritized helping students feel safe in their college experience whether or not they choose to participate in substance use. Known for distributing non-alcoholic drinks at campus events, providing access to naloxone around campus and educating students about substance use, SHIFT now offers a zine forum to engage students in substance use conversation and de-stigmatization.
NCPA announces finalists for 2024 Good Neighbor Pharmacy NCPA Pruitt-Schutte Student Business Plan Competition
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The National Community Pharmacists Association and the NCPA Foundation are pleased to announce that teams of pharmacy students from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of South Carolina, and the University of Texas at Austin have been named finalists in the 2024 Good Neighbor Pharmacy NCPA Pruitt-Schutte Student Business Plan Competition. The three teams will present their business plans in a live competition on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at the NCPA Annual Convention in Columbus. The winning team will be announced on Sunday, Oct. 27, as part of the convention’s First General Session.
