National Women’s Hall of Fame Unveils Major Renovations in Seneca Falls
(WNY News Now) – Seneca Falls – Governor Kathy Hochul announced the completion of significant renovations to the National Women’s Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls, funded by the Downtown Revitalization Initiative. The project includes a $1 million renovation of the historic smokestack, construction of an elevator and stairwell, and expansion of the second floor, effectively doubling the Hall’s exhibit space.
The Other Phelps Sauerkraut Factory
The village of Phelps has long been known as the “Sauerkraut Capital of the World.” It all started in the early 1900s and survived until 1985 when all operations ended, and the Comstock and Seneca Foods companies moved operations to Shortsville with the company now called Great Lakes Kraut.
Village Grove construction on track in Trumansburg
Construction on the Village Grove development, projected to be the village of Trumansburg’s largest and greenest affordable housing project, is underway. The $27 million project is meant to bring 10 affordable rental townhomes or duplexes, as well as 46 affordable apartments in a two-story building, and nine lots at a market-rate price that could likely house 17 apartments, to the south side of the village by the end of the year.

Spotted Lanternfly confirmed in Finger Lakes
The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets announced on Thursday that it has detected the Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) in the grape-growing region of the Finger Lakes. Department inspectors from the Division of Plant Industry confirmed the presence of SLF in Romulus following reports it received from its partners at the Integrated Pest Management Program at Cornell University.
