Ronceverte man arrested after domestic disturbance call

RONCEVERTE W.Va. (WVDN) – A Ronceverte officer received a call regarding a domestic disturbance and yelling on June 29, at approximately 8:07 p.m. Several officers with the Ronceverte Police Department responded to investigate the cause of the disturbance.

Upon arriving in the area, officers could hear people yelling. The officers reportedly spoke with individuals at the residence who stated that “they were yelling at a dog.” The officer then asked one individual who identified himself as Timothy Keen, 49, of Ronceverte, what he was doing. Keen reportedly stated, “he was picking up his belongings.”

As per the criminal complaint, Keen walked up the stairs and asked the officer to arrest him. The officer asked Keen what reason he had to be arrested. Keen then stated he had struck an individual in the head with a golf club and needed to be arrested. The officer then asked Keen why he had struck the person. Keen allegedly responded that he had struck the victim about five minutes prior to the officer’s arrival and that he and the victim had gotten into an argument and that is allegedly when Keen struck the victim with a golf club. One of the officers spoke to the victim who reportedly stated, “He had walked outside to his steps. Then Keen came up to him and started arguing and getting aggravated.”

According to the criminal complaint, Keen then picked up a golf club and swung it at the victim trying to hit his bad leg and missed. Keen then reportedly swung the golf club striking the individual across the head resulting in a large gash above his left eye. EMS were contacted while officers were on the scene to provide medical care to the victim who was bleeding profusely from the wound on his head, according to the criminal complaint. The injured party was then transported to the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center to be treated for injuries on his head, left arm and back from the altercation.

Keen was placed under arrest for malicious assault and transported to Southern Regional Jail (SRJ) to await arraignment by a magistrate. West Virginia code 61-2-9 states that “If any person maliciously shoots, stabs, cuts or wounds any person, or by any means cause him or her bodily injury with the intent to maim, disfigure disable or kill, he or she, except where it is otherwise provided, is guilty of a felony and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by confinement in a State Correctional Facility not less than two nor more than 10 years.”

Keen is currently incarcerated in Southern Regional Jail. No bail amount is listed at the time of publishing.
