Man jumps out of second-story window twice after demanding cigarettes

RONCEVERTE, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A man jumped out of a second-story window demanding cigarettes . When police arrived, he jumped out of the window again and landed on his back.

On Sunday, June 30th, at around 12:06 p.m., Officer B. Isaacs from the Ronceverte Police Department received a radio call from the Greenbrier County 911 Center reporting a disturbance near Cedar St. and Pocahontas Ave. in Ronceverte, WV. The caller mentioned hearing a man and a woman yelling.

Officer Isaacs responded and located the disturbance. Upon arrival, Officer Isaacs spoke with a woman who identified herself as the victim. The victim explained that she had been sitting on the porch when Stephen Kressley leaped from the second-story window onto the porch, confronting her.

Stephen then restrained her in a chair, demanding cigarettes. The victim revealed that Stephen scratched her chest and bruised her arms while attempting to open her bag for the cigarettes and preventing her from moving.

She yelled at Stephen to stop, but he persisted. The victim informed Officer Isaacs that Stephen had been drinking, and she was fed up with his behavior.

Officer Isaacs observed visible marks on the victim’s upper chest and bruises on her left arm from the altercation, documenting them with photos.

Subsequently, Officer Isaacs attempted to speak with the male, who identified as Stephen Kressley. However, Stephen refused to come outside, citing that it was his property and he wouldn’t be dictated to.

He eventually agreed to talk after warning Stephen to cooperate or face intervention. Stephen exited through the second-story window and landed on his back on the porch, declining medical assistance. When questioned about the incident, Stephen denied wrongdoing, alleging that the victim was lying.

Despite repeated requests, Stephen declined to provide his name and date of birth, insisting that he had already stated it clearly. Stephen was arrested and taken to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center for evaluation following his porch fall.

Upon clearance, he was transported to Southern Regional Jail for domestic violence and obstructing an officer.
