Canton, Alliance police cleared in fatal shootings of Jeffrey Neff and George Appleby
CANTON – Police officers from Canton and Alliance who fatally shot suspects last year have been cleared by the Stark County grand jury. The decision not to indict the officers followed the completion of investigations by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation into the shooting deaths of Jeffrey Neff in Canton and George "Joe" Appleby in Alliance. The BCI reports were referred to the Stark County Prosecutor's Office.

He had fought a long and strenuous battle with cancer, but the time had come for him to rest in peace. He was in the wonderful care of the University Hospital Portage Medical Center and had spent the evening before surrounded by his family. Michael was born on Dec. 11, 1953 in Salem, Ohio, the son of the late Lester J. Cosgrove Sr. and the late Mary (Petro) Cosgrove. Steward cancels auction of three Valley hospitals citing no qualified bidders
The future of three Valley hospitals operated by Steward Health Care remains cloudy after their auctions were called off. In a notice filed in bankruptcy court on Sunday, Steward revealed that it has not received qualified bids for Trumbull Regional Medical Center in Warren, Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Howland, and Sharon Regional Medical Center in Mercer County.
