Salem approves purchase of pool filters
SALEM–The Salem Park Commission approved the purchase of new pool filters in its meeting Wednesday. Parks Director Jacob Logan said that the department had recently installed its last spare filter to repair a break at the Centennial Park Pool, requesting authorization from the commissioners to purchase two for a combined cost of $1,351.92 plus shipping to be paid with funding from the Kenneth U. and Ruth H. Wirtz Memorial Fund, which was unanimously approved. Logan said that while he expected the five other filters currently in service to last through the season, the department needed to have replacement filters on hand in the event an unexpected repair or replacement was required. Logan also said that the department would likely need to replace the remaining filters once the current pool season ended as the filters were approaching the end of their useful lifespan.
