Solon Community Living phase two is now underway
It was just over a year ago that nearly 200 people gathered around an empty property. Solon Community Living (SCL), the vision of Ara and Leslie Bagdasarian, was holding its initial groundbreaking on Clearwater Court in Solon. The group gathered around an empty field of dirt, punctuated only by the five shovels that were in the ground for a photo shoot.
FACT announces Ghost Walk auditions
The Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County is seeking actors for this year’s Ghost Walk. Auditions are scheduled at 6 p.m. Aug. 7 and 1 p.m. Aug. 10 at Art on Park, 180 N. Park Ave., Warren. Performance Dates are Oct. 11, 12, 18 and 19 for the event, which uses historic homes along Mahoning Avenue NW in Warren as the backdrop for strange and macabre tales from local history.

City residents can earn money when they recycle their Efficiency Smart appliances during late August and early September. Participants must be city electric customers and can schedule free pickup of a working refrigerator, freezer, dehumidifier or window air conditioner unit by Monday, Sept. 30, and receive $75 for each unit recycled, according to a notice on the city’s website. As another option, if residents bring their unit to the dropoff event being held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Metz Road ball fields, 490 Metz Road in Columbiana, they receive a total of $100 (or $25 extra) per unit for responsibly recycling. There is a limit of four units per household per year.
