INDIANA HANDS AUSTINTOWN THEIR FIRST LOSS OF THE SUMMER
WHITESTOWN IN- Indiana came out swinging on Tuesday, scoring four runs in the second inning to defeat Austintown 7-1 in regional tournament action. Cadence Jansen got Indiana on the board in the first inning with a groundout that brought in a run. Austintown quickly tied it up in the top of the second thanks to a passed ball.

The long-awaited time capsule opening took place July 6. Inside the time capsule were, among other things, old newspapers, an old book from the Garrettsville 120th Centennial and a song written about Garrettsville called “Old Garrettsville” that was sung by two girls, according to the James A. Garfield Historical Society, when the time capsule was buried in 1924. Two women sang the song at the time capsule opening.

Thu 7/25 @ 6:30-8PM Kent’s Numbers Band, which debuted in the summer of 1970, has plugged on without a break ever since, is one of northeast Ohio’s musical treasures. Fronted by intense, charismatic singer/songwriter/guitarist Robert Kidney, the band has forged its own distinctive sound out of rock and roll, blues and jazz. While clearly there’ve been many personnel changes in a band with such a long history, Bob’s multi-instrumentalist brother jack Kidney and sax/keyboards player Terry Hynde have been along for a significant chunk of the ride. The current band also features two more local music scene veterans: bassist Bill Watson and drummer Clint Alguire.
Bluecoats Keep Its Winning Streak Alive
The Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps secured first place out of 21 corps at the DCI Southwestern Championship last night. The corps now prepares for its next major competition in Murfreesboro, TN. The corps will use the upcoming days to focus on rehearsals and to fine-tune its performance before the event.

Solon, Cleveland Metroparks trail eyes ‘26 completion date
The city of Solon in partnership with Cleveland Metroparks is working to develop a new trail starting from SOM Center Road and traveling through Solon and Chagrin Falls. Construction on the trail, 2 miles of which sits in Solon, has started and should be completed in 2026, Sean McDermott, chief planning and design officer at Cleveland Metroparks, told the Cleveland Jewish News.
