Man claims to have child hostage during extensive hotel standoff, $3 million in property damages
ROSENBERG, Texas — A man claiming to have a child hostage caused extensive damage during a standoff at a Motel 6, resulting in $3 million in property damages, police say. On June 28, 2024, at approximately 6:19 PM, Rosenberg Police Officers responded to reports of a robbery at Motel 6, located at 27927 Southwest Freeway. As officers arrived and attempted to contact the reporting party, 45-year-old Landon Blayne Hutchins, of Gonzales, Texas, made threats against the officers and barricaded himself in a room. Hutchins claimed to have multiple firearms and a child hostage.
