Texas City police arrest Houston man for online solicitation of a minor
TEXAS CITY, Texas - A five-month investigation by the Texas City Police Department's Internet Crime Against Children Task Force has led to the arrest of a Houston man for online solicitation of a minor.May Arnoldo Perez Romero, a 38-year-old from Houston, was apprehended on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, after traveling to Texas City to meet what he believed to be a 13-year-old girl for a sexual encounter, according to a press release from the Texas City Police Department. Perez began chatting with the supposed minor in March 2024.The arrest was a collaborative effort involving the Crime Suppression Unit, Criminal Investigation Division, Drone Team, and K-9 Bruno. Perez has been charged with Online Solicitation of a Minor under 14, and his bond has been set at $60,000."The Texas City Police Department is dedicated and will work relentlessly to arrest and prosecute child predators who attempt to prey on the children of our community," stated the department.Anyone with information that may assist the Crime Suppression Unit in addressing quality of life issues in Texas City is encouraged to contact Detective Ira Fowler at (409) 797-4401. 5 persons of interest wanted in shooting death of man after argument escalates in NE Houston: HPD
A 25-year-old man is dead, and the Houston Police Department said it's searching for five persons of interest for questions in his shooting death.According to HPD, the shooting happened at about 1 a.m. on June 9 in the 9700 block of Homestead Road.Police said the victim, identified as 25-year-old Alberto Posada, had been chased by another vehicle, and shots were fired at Posada as he arrived at the Harris Health Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital.From there, police said the suspects fled the scene in a white-colored 2011-2012 Mazda CX-9 SUV.HPD said Posada suffered at least one gunshot wound and was then taken to another area hospital, where he was pronounced dead days later on June 11.An investigation into the case determined the incident began as a verbal argument at a gas station at 9700 Homestead and escalated into what police are calling a road rage incident. Farmer Dies in Suspected Killer Bee Attack Near Huntsville, Texas
Bryce Harold Smith, 75, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, after being stung by numerous bees. The attack happened on the man's property just south of Bedias, Texas. According to a report from KCTV-5, Smith was stung approximately 60 times around the face and neck area.
