City leaders in Wausau on Aug. 19 will hold a discussion on a proposed lead service line replacement ordinance, according to a news release issued by the city on Tuesday. The announcement to hold a Committee of the Whole meeting to discuss the ordinance comes three weeks after the City Council vowed not to charge residents for replacement of lines. Lead pipes that carry water into homes and business establishments are considered toxic and can present significant health hazards.

Man Convicted for Stealing from Clintonville Youth Baseball Club, Fined
WAUPACA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man who stole money from a youth baseball club was convicted Tuesday and fined $300. Duane Jarvais has already paid full restitution. Jarvais stole $3,372.54 from the Clintonville Diamond Club. According to the criminal complaint, Jarvais was one of four authorized users of the checking account. A total of 93 fraudulent transactions between April and July, 2023, were discovered.
