The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a Far Rockaway man for an Assault that occurred on Monday, July 29, 2024 at 7:08 a.m. in Island Park. According to Detectives, Officers responded to a residence on Kildare Road for a Burglary. Officers located the subject in the vicinity of Long Beach Road and Carolina Avenue. They attempted to place defendant Malik Hodge, 28, of 314 Beach 45th Street, into custody. One Officer sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest.

Yankees Release Infielder Once Considered a Former Top Prospect
On Tuesday, the New York Yankees announced that infielder Jeter Downs will leave the team to join Japan’s Fukuoka SoftBank Hanks, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. Downs, 25, was once a former top prospect, having been selected 32nd overall by the Cincinnati Reds in 2017. His time in the minor leagues saw him play for two organizations as part of a major trade. The first was when Downs went to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a seven-player trade.
