Motorcyclist sustains serious injuries in crash along LaPlaisance Road
LaSALLE TWP. — A Monroe man suffered serious injuries Saturday night when the motorcycle he was driving struck a guardrail and he was thrown onto an embankment. The crash in LaSalle Township was reported at 9:12 p.m. Saturday, July 20, Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough reported in a news release. The preliminary investigation showed that James R. Miller, 51, of Monroe was driving a red 2008 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on Laplaisance Road passing Lighthouse Road when, for unknown reasons, the motorcycle began to leave the roadway to the north and struck a guardrail causing Miller to be ejected from the motorcycle onto a nearby embankment.

After all the ballots were counted and the last cone consumed, local favorite, Cups and Cones Ice Cream Parlor, was selected as the top spot for scoops, garnering 36.7% (7,254) of the vote and running away with the competition.

BG Police investigate reports by two businesses of customers using counterfeit bills
Two Bowling Green businesses reported counterfeit bills being used at their stores on Friday (July 19). Bowling Green Police responded to a business in the 800 block of South Main Street, at 7:23 p.m., after an employee reported a customer suspected of using counterfeit bills. The male had reportedly used counterfeit bills at the store last week to purchase a car battery.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Gas prices in the Toledo area have increased by 20 cents over the last week, an analyst for GasBuddy says. A gallon of gas costs, on average, $3.49 in Toledo as of Monday, according to a GasBuddy survey of 315 gas stations. Prices at the pump are now almost 14 cents higher than a month ago.
TARTA to offer transportation services to Glass City JazzFest
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority has announced it will again offer special event transportation to the Glass City JazzFest. TARTA says on Aug. 10, buses at Franklin Park Mall and The Docks will be running directly to JazzFest.
