Pennsylvania's top elections official gave Franklin County's elections team a good review following a recent meeting in Chambersburg. As elections in the state are run at the county level, Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt is more than halfway through visiting all 67 counties to meet local leaders and learn more about their election operations.
Four face indictments in northern West Virginia for federal firearms violations
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Four people have been indicted for violating federal firearms laws in northern West Virginia. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Todd M. Houston, 35, of Morgantown, and Kayla N. Taylor, 33, of Montrose, have been charged with conspiracy to straw purchase firearms in Monongalia County. Court documents said Taylor falsified documents to purchase firearms for Houston, who is prohibited from having firearms because of prior robbery and burglary convictions in Monongalia County Circuit Court. Damson and Houston were taken into custody while attempting to sell boxes of ammunition at an area pawn shop.
Butler Track & Field Teams Notch 9th Nationally for GPA
The Butler men’s and women’s track and field teams were recognized for their continued accomplishments in the classroom, earning NCAA Division I Track & Field USTFCCCA All-Academic Team recognition. The honorees were announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Monday. When combining the men’s and women’s GPAs, Butler’s program ranked ninth nationally for the 2023-24 season. Butler’s combined GPA has been among the nation’s Top 10 for seven consecutive years. WAYMAKERS ROSTER HAS FOUR IUP NAMES
The D2 Waymakers have posted their final roster for the million dollar winner-take-all “The Basketball Tournament”, and it includes four IUP names. Dante Lombardi coaches the team and is listed on the roster, along with Ethan Porterfield, Cobo Diaz, and Armoni Foster. Indiana High and Shippensburg star Carlos Carter is also on the team, which opens play against Auburn on Saturday in Lexington, Kentucky.
