Second BOG Term for Brandon Danz
When Brandon W. Danz ’03 was a student at Millersville University, he was appointed by then Governor Mark Schweiker to serve as a student member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Board of Governors. Fast-forward to 2024, when Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro recently appointed him to once again serve on the BOG. His first meeting was on July 11.
Pa. company laying off 70 people
The Radian Group, a mortgage insurance company, is laying off approximately 70 people in Chester County. Radian Group Inc. filed a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act) notice with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry informing that state it is laying off the employees at 550 East Swedesford Road in Tredyffrin Township near Wayne.
Penn College sees unexpected increase in state budget
Williamsport, Pa. — On July 11, Gov. Josh Shapiro approved the 2024-25 Pennsylvania budget, which includes a $4 million increase in state appropriations for Penn College — a 13% increase compared to last year. In the College's 2024-25 budget, approved by the Board of Directors on June 27, the Board only anticipated a 5% increase.
