Main Street Project Scrutinized By GV Council
Details of a major Main Street improvement project were closely questioned by the Grass Valley City Council, at their Tuesday night meeting, and they’ve delayed a final decision. Much of the focus was on proposed changes to the signalized intersection at South Auburn Street. It includes elimination of the westerly crosswalk and a trial period of converting it to an all-way stop, with the signals flashing red. City Engineer Bjorn Jones said as the left/through lane, coming from that street, is signalized, and doesn’t have any oncoming traffic to deal with, motorists are not always aware of pedestrians using the crossing. But City Councilmember Hilary Hodge told Jones she wasn’t sure that will improve safety…
