The 8th annual Black Restaurant Week is underway now through Aug. 18 featuring Black-owned restaurants food trucks, sweets, and more across the metro area.

More than 70 eateries are taking part in this year’s event. The complete list is available at this link .

Founded by Atlanta-based Warren Luckett and operated by managing partners Falayn Ferrell and Derek Robinson, Black Restaurant Week began as a one-city experience in Houston back in 2016.

The mission was to provide complimentary marketing and PR services for the business under the BRW campaign, educate consumers on the abundance of cultural cuisines within their neighborhood, and share the disparities faced by minority-owned businesses.

To date, BRW has expanded to 15 markets including internationally in Toronto.

“Since 2016, we aspired to set ourselves apart from similar organizations. BRW is solely guided by business owners and operators. They are in the trenches every day and experience the ebbs and flows of running a business during one of the most difficult periods in US history,” said Ferrell.
