The Ansley Park home of late author Pat Conroy is on the market for $2.25 million.

The five-bedroom, five-bath home at 34 Peachtree Circle was owned by Conroy in the early 1980s, and the carriage house at the back of the property is where he wrote part of the bestselling “The Prince of Tides.”

The “Conroy House”— there’s a plaque on the front porch signifying this — was originally built in the 1920s and completely rebuilt in 2003 after a fire in the main house.

The property combines period details with a modern open floor plan spanning four finished levels of living.  Cut stone steps lead to a front porch that overlooks Winn Park.

The large formal entry showcases built-in cabinets and detailed wainscoting in the open stairway. This is punctuated by a large leaded glass window at the landing. The formal living room with gas fireplace (one of three in the home) is open to the formal dining room brightened by a bay window.

The modern chef’s kitchen has white granite counters, stainless steel appliances and leaded glass window inserts underneath the wall cabinets. The kitchen island offers seating for four, opening to the breakfast area and fireside family room.

Upstairs, a primary suite showcases his and her closets and a spa bath with a jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower.  A guest room and the Jack and Jill bedrooms are served by a laundry room on the second floor.

The third floor offers a finished flex space offering any number of uses. Downstairs, the finished terrace level features a rec room or overflow space with a kitchenette and full bath. Through the garden is the two-car garage with a second laundry under the carriage house.

The home is listed by Marc Castillo and Debbie Sonenshine with Coldwell Banker Realty. More information on the house is available here .
