SMU quarterback Preston Stone doesn't catch himself accidentally saying his program plays in the American Athletic Conference anymore. The ACC welcomed three new members to the conference on July 1, and one of those new members is the SMU Mustangs. SMU is somewhat of a wildcard in the new-look ACC, the lone Texas program with a large support system and a history of highs and lows. The Mustangs are riding a high, the first conference championship since 1984, and it feels like there’s a lot of potential in the ACC. Pitt will get a look at SMU this season in Dallas, Tx.
BURDEN EARNS FIRST-TEAM PRESEASON HONORS AS MIZZOU PICKED TO FINISH SIXTH IN SEC
Mizzou wide receiver Luther Burden III is the Tigers’ only entry on this year’s preseason all-Southeastern Conference team. The conference announced the media’s selections for preseason honors and predicted order of finish at the end of last week’s SEC Media Days in Dallas. Burden picked up first-team honors, following his breakout season last year that saw the St Louis native ninth in the nation in receiving yards with 1,212 yards, and third in the conference with 86 receptions, including nine touchdowns. Burden earned a first-team SEC selection at the end of last season and was a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award.
