Woman Hit By Boat On Lake Of The Ozarks, Seriously Injured
LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — A woman from Adel, Iowa, was hospitalized after reportedly being hit by a boat on Lake of the Ozarks, Wednesday night. Jeremy Boysen, 42, was driving a 2022 Sea Ray around 11:50 p.m., Aug. 14, when occupant Brooke Boysen, 42, voluntarily jumped from the vessel, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The Sea Ray then struck Brooke, who swam to the shore near the 5 Mile Marker of the Osage Arm.

Iconic Union Pacific’s Big Boy Steam Engine To Stop In Carroll Sept. 4

Union Pacific’s beloved Big Boy No. 4014 steam engine is scheduled to make a whistle-stop in Carroll near the beginning of September on its “Heartland of America” tour. The enormous 132-foot, 1.2-million-pound engine operated from 1941 to 1961. Union Pacific began restoring Big Boy in 2013 and returned it to service for tours in 2019 as part of the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad’s construction. The Heartland of America Tour begins Aug. 28 in Cheyenne, Wyo. and includes a path east to Illinois before turning south to the Gulf of Mexico and returning to Wyoming via Oklahoma, Kansas, and Colorado. Big Boy’s whistle-stop at the Carroll Depot is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 4. The engine is expected to roll in from the west around 12:30 p.m. and depart toward Boone at 1 p.m. Safety during the tour is a high priority for Union Pacific, and they remind spectators to remain at least 25 feet back from railroad tracks at all times. Over 40 Cats from Northwest Iowa Flown to New Jersey to Ease Overcapacitated Shelters
Over 40 cats from northwest Iowa were recently flown to New Jersey to find homes due to increased flooding in the area that led to a surplus of cats in shelters. The relocation was organized by Greater Good Charities and The Animal Rescue Site. The cats, all homeless and adoptable, are from People For Pets in Spencer and the Humane Society of Northwest Iowa. They were loaded onto a plane in Sioux Falls and flown to Atlantic City.
