Olean Resident Arrested for Cocaine Possession Following Jamestown Traffic Stop
(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – Jamestown Police apprehended Matt R. King after allegedly discovering cocaine during a routine traffic stop on E. 8th St. and Prendergast Ave. On June 27, 2024, at approximately 4:41 pm, officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 2nd Platoon conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of E. 8th St. and Prendergast Ave. The stop was initiated due to observed traffic infractions.
Jamestown Man Charged After Domestic Incident, Struggle with Officers
A Jamestown man is facing a number of charges after an investigation into a domestic incident Sunday evening. Jamestown Police responded to an address on the city's south side at about 8:45 PM and discovered that 38-year-old Felix Rodriguez-Gomez allegedly violated an order of protection to stay away from the victim. Rodriguez-Gomez then allegedly tried to flee from officers, but was taken into custody after a brief struggle. He was also allegedly found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, a digital scale, and plastic bags commonly used for packaging controlled substances. Rodriguez-Gomez was held pending arraignment on a felony count of 1st-degree criminal contempt, along with one count of 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia, and one count of resisting arrest.
Jamestown Man Leads Police on Bicycle and Foot Pursuit
A Jamestown man was arrested Saturday afternoon after attempting to evade police officers. Jamestown Police say 42-year-old Marcelino Hernandez, who had outstanding warrants for his arrest associated with the Jamestown Police Department, was seen riding a bicycle on a sidewalk near the corner of East 3rd Street and North Main Street shortly before 5:00 PM. Officers initiated a vehicle and traffic stop complete with emergency lights and sirens, at which point Hernandez proceeded to flee. The pursuit led officers onto Pine Street toward an alley, and officers began to chase him on foot. Hernandez was apprehended shortly thereafter and taken into custody. Hernandez was allegedly found to be in possession of suboxone sublingual films, a controlled substance. In addition to his outstanding bench warrants, he was charged with resisting arrest, 7th-degree possession of a controlled substance, and vehicle and traffic violations. Hernandez is being held in the Jamestown City Jail while he awaits arraignment.
Panama Man Sentenced for Probation Violation
A south county man who violated the terms of his probation that stemmed from a felony drug conviction will serve six years in state prison. Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt says 38-year-old Billy Heilman of Panama was sentenced Monday by County Court Judge David Foley, who also gave him three years post-release supervision. Heilman was currently serving a five-year probation sentence after pleading guilty in February to a Class C felony count of 4th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, which resulted from a February 2023 traffic stop on Baker Street in Jamestown in which Heilman was found to possess a quantity of methamphetamine. In May, the Chautauqua County Office of Probation filed a violation against Heilman for not complying with the terms of his probation. Schmidt thanked the Jamestown Police Department for their work on this case and Chautauqua County Probation officers for their diligent supervision of probationers.

City man arrested on multiple charges following downtown pursuit on bicycle... A Jamestown man sought on several warrants has been arrested for allegedly trying to flee police on a bicycle... and, for being in possession of narcotic drugs. City police say they spotted 42 year-old Marcelino Hernandez on the bike on a sidewalk in the area of East Third and North Main Streets just before 5 p.m. Saturday. Officers turned on their emergency lights and siren to make a traffic stop... but, Hernandez rode off on the bike. Police pursued Hernandez onto Pine Street... and, towards an alleyway in the area. At that point... officers got out... and, pursued the suspect on foot. Hernandez was finally stopped near East Fourth Street... and, was taken into custody. Police say he was allegedly found in possession of Suboxone sublingual films which are a controlled substance. Hernandez was charged with resisting arrest... seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance... and vehicle and traffic violations in addition to the outstanding bench warrants. He was jailed pending arraignment.
