Local Man Arrested on Kidnapping and Drug Trafficking Charges
According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a Wayne County man has been charged with multiple felony offenses including kidnapping and drug trafficking. On July 2, 2024, at approximately 6 pm the Sheriff Office was contacted by a female victim stating that the man had taken her by force from her residence located on Side Street in the city limits of Monticello after accusing her of calling law enforcement and reporting he was in possession of methamphetamine. According to the female the male suspect then drove both of them to his residence on the Matthew Gregory Road in Wayne County. While still interviewing the female about the incident she stated that once at the male’s residence he pulled out a handgun, chamber a round pointing it at her then shot beside her head with the bullet going at an angle next to a television. The female stated that the male told her that if she ever told anyone about this incident, he would kill her and her children. While still at the residence the female told the Sheriff Office Deputies that the male made her purchase a total of 14 grams of methamphetamine from him for $450.00. The male then returned the female to her residence on Side Street. While with law enforcement the female turned over approximately 14 grams of a crystal substance that was suspected as being methamphetamine. The crystal substance tested positive as being methamphetamine using the Tru-Narc Narcotic Analysis Instrument with a total weight of 14.71 grams.

Fire Department Made Three Runs Tuesday
Monticello Fire Department responded to 3 calls for service on Tuesday as well as stood by at the Wayne County Fair & Horse Show for the motor event. #1 Wayne County EMS requested assistance gaining access to a patient that had fallen inside their residence and could not unlock the doors. Fire personnel were able to enter the structure with minimal damage and opened the doors for EMS who were then able to provide care for the patient.
