Missouri Highway Patrol: Illinois man drowns in Jefferson County, Missouri
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A 33-year-old Illinois man drowned at Rockford Park on Big River in Jefferson County, Missouri. Guadalupe L. Lopez drowned around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, the Missouri Highway Patrol says. Lopez entered the water and went under and was pronounced dead by paramedics.

It’s a classic story of how a small company grew to be the biggest in their local business by using advertising smarts and AM/FM radio. Columbia, MO-based Steve’s Pest Control began in 1988 by Steve Hotsenpiller and wife Anita with one truck and an ad campaign on a local radio station. As the business and their revenue grew, they continued to set aside 8.5% of that revenue for advertising, buying time on more stations and eventually becoming one of local radio’s largest advertisers.
HBCU students experience international missions, see ‘someone like me’
Chyler Hughes had never seen a Black missionary. At church, she learned to minister in her local community, but no one ever talked about international missions. The concept entered her world when she left Kentucky and enrolled at Lincoln University, a historically Black university in Jefferson City, Mo. She learned about international missions by attending Rooted, a collegiate ministry of Soma Community Church. They partnered with an International Mission Board missionary team in Brazil and sent their first short-term team of students to work with them.
