Lady Techsters returners stepping up to leadership

Ruston, La. (KTVE/KARD) — Majority of the offseason for the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters has been centered around the amount of talent the team has lost since last season, but they are more focused on what they have gained in the process.

Only a few returners remain from last year’s squad and with only two starters coming back for the new season it is expected that Louisiana Tech guards Jianna Morris and Robyn Lee will take over as the vocal leaders of the team.

It’s not many times a head coach is trusting a sophomore player with leadership roles, but Morris is not a typical young guard; Morris started all 33 games last season as a freshman and made the Conference USA All-Freshman team, but the team has full confidence in her to step up to the plate while she continues to develop as a player.

Lee on the other hand is entering the offseason as the most tenured players on the roster and her experience in Louisiana Tech Women’s basketball head coach Brooke Stoehr’s system gives her the upper hand on guiding the other players as they get adjusted. She’s also taking on the challenge by leading them to success from day one.

“I think I should bring energy every day and lead by example. Compete every day and they’ll follow behind me,” said Lee.
