A 46-year-old Attleboro man died in a jet ski incident in Rutland on Saturday, Rutland police said.

The Rutland Police Department and Rutland Fire Department were dispatched to Turkey Hill Pond around 4:30 p.m. after reports of a jet ski overturned in the water, police said in a statement. Witnesses reported the jet ski’s operator was “in depressed” before going missing underwater, according to police.

“Responding units searched the area in boats and on the shore, attempting to locate the involved party. Additional assets responded to Turkey Hill Pond to assist, including the Fire District 8 Dive Team, several area fire departments, the Massachusetts State Police and the Massachusetts Environmental police,” the department said.

Authorities recovered the body around 7:50 p.m on Saturday. The name and identity of the individual will not be released until next of kin is informed, the department said. Rutland police said they will continue to investigate the incident, along with the Massachusetts Environmental Police and Massachusetts State Police.
