Spencer Fair returns for Labor Day weekend
SPENCER, Mass. — Nothing says fall is on its way quite like the Spencer Fair, which kicked off festivities Friday. People have been visiting the Labor Day weekend staple for more than 130 years. There's seemingly something for everyone, from the oh-so-popular demolition derby and plenty of food to ox and horse pulls, cattle, rabbit and poultry shows, hall exhibits and outdoor entertainment.

Chelsea officer recovering after part of ear bitten off in ‘volatile situation’
A Chelsea police officer is recovering after having part of his ear bitten off during, what police have called, a “highly volatile situation” Friday. The officer was hurt while police were dealing with a domestic situation at a home at 207 Shurtleff Street around 2:20 p.m. on Aug. 30, Chelsea police said in a press release posted to X.
