WYLIE, Texas — A 28-year-old man's body was recovered Monday evening after he was reported missing while kayaking on a North Texas lake. Just before 4:45 p.m., Wylie authorities responded to a water rescue in the East Fork of the Trinty River between Lake Lavon and Lake Ray Hubbard. Witnesses told police they spotted four people in the water north of State Highway 78 where the rivers cross under.
Mesquite police officer arrested in connection with Wylie shooting
WYLIE, Texas — A Mesquite police officer has been arrested following an investigation into a June 25 shooting in Wylie, according to the Wylie Police Department. On July 16, Mesquite Police Officer Brian Hill turned himself in to the Wylie Municipal Jail after Wylie detectives obtained two warrants for his arrest. The investigation revealed that Hill was involved in an ongoing dispute with another male and had used his department laptop to access a law enforcement database to provide information to his father, Darvin Hill.

Dallas police continue investigation into 2012 murder of Samuel Nanaeto
DALLAS, Texas — The Dallas Police Department continues to investigate the 2012 murder of 22-year-old Samuel Nanaeto. On September 23, 2012, Nanaeto and an unknown suspect were involved in a fight at a business in the 8500 block of Stemmons Freeway. The investigation determined Nanaeto left the scene and was involved in another fight in the 8800 block of N. Stemmons Freeway, where he was found shot to death. Further investigation revealed a four-door white vehicle, possibly a Chevy Avalanche, driven by a Latin male, was seen at the second location and was possibly involved, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Motorcycle rider killed in Dallas crash; two people charged
On July 19, 2024 at about 8:45 PM, Dallas Fire Rescue and Police responded to an accident call at Southwell Road and Harry Hines Boulevard. The preliminary investigation determined a motorcycle occupied by two individuals was traveling northbound on Harry Hines Boulevard. A 20-year-old man was driving a truck southbound on Harry Hines Boulevard when he turned left on Southwell Road and crashed into the motorcycle.
