4 Sacramento shootings, including 1 deadly, on Sunday stretch police resources thin

SACRAMENTO – The Sacramento Police Department is investigating multiple shootings in Sacramento on Sunday, two of which were deadly.

On Sunday, after 2 p.m. on Arden Way near Del Paso Boulevard, police said a man died of a gunshot at the scene. There is no suspect in custody.

This was just over a mile away from where the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office was investigating a shooting that happened late Saturday night and left a man wounded .

The first shooting on Sunday happened on the 100 block of K Street in Sacramento around 2:30 a.m. A man was found in a car with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital.

Then, around noon, a man was found with a gunshot wound on the 2700 block of 5th Street, near Vallejo Way in Upper Land Park. Sacramento police say that victim died Monday morning. There is not a suspect in custody.

The fourth shooting on Sunday happened just before 5:30 p.m., the first reports indicated someone fired a gun into the air. This incident was on the 5100 block of McGlashan Street.

"It's unfortunate, we don't want to have anyone shot in our city, but now that it's happened, we have to investigate and figure out who did it," said Officer Anthony Gamble, spokesperson for the Sacramento Police Department.

Preliminarily, police say it appeared nobody was hit, but responding officers found evidence of a shooting.

Between the Arden Way and 5th Street investigations, which lasted hours after the original call, the Sacramento Police Department's resources were stretched thin.

"We have two different scenes at two different locations so this will put a little bit of a strain on our investigations unit at this time, but our world-class investigators will do what they do," Gamble said.
