The Sacramento Kings have been linked in NBA trade rumors to several All-Star players and impact role players in recent months. With the 2024 NBA Draft approaching, Sacramento is reportedly working to finally get a deal done this summer.

As Sam Amick of The Athletic previously reported, the Kings have come close to deals with the Chicago Bulls for guard Alex Caruso and with the Toronto Raptors for Pascal Siakam. However, in each instance, Sacramento finished second in the bidding war with Giddey dealt to the Oklahoma City Thunder and Siakam moved to the Indiana Pacers.

Some of the latest Kings rumors have linked the team to Bulls’ All-Star Zach LaVine, Portland Trail Blazers wing Jerami Grant and Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma. Sacramento has kept its options open this summer, but with the 2024 NBA Draft imminent, it appears general manager Monte McNair is becoming more aggressive.

According to Brett Siegel of Clutch Points , the Kings are actively shopping their 13th overall pick on Wednesday and hunting for deals before the 2024 NBA Draft begins tonight. Among the teams Sacramento has talked with is the Washington Wizards, with Kuzma one of the players on Sacramento’s radar.

Sacramento might want to wait until it’s close to being on the clock to make a deal. Recent NBA mock drafts have projected Ron Holland to the Kings at No. 13 overall. Holland, a 6-foot-8 forward, was the 247 Sports’ No. 1 recruit a year ago and he’s viewed as having one of the highest upsides in the draft. If he develops, Sacramento could have a small forward with a 6-foot-10 wingspan, elite athleticism and the potential to be an above-average defender.

However, the Kings’ front office is under pressure to win now. Sacramento made NBA news earlier this summer before extending coach Mike Brown when reports surfaced that ownership wasn’t happy with the team’s performance this past season.

More recently, it was reported that one of the Kings’ star players didn’t want to sign a contract extension this summer as he was uncertain about the direction of the team. Trading the 13th pick for a player like Grant or Kuzma, paired with the re-signing of Malik Monk, could push Sacramento back into the NBA playoffs next season without having to go through the Play-In Tournament.
