    Kings sign former Miami Heat, Fresno State center Orlando Robinson to one-year contract

    The Sacramento Kings are bringing in a young big man to compete for a backup role behind All-NBA center Domantas Sabonis.

    A league source told The Sacramento Bee the Kings are signing former Miami Heat center Orlando Robinson to a one-year contract. Robinson spent two seasons with Miami after going undrafted out of Fresno State in 2022.

    Robinson, 24, is listed at 6-foot-10 and 235 pounds. He appeared in 67 games over two seasons with the Heat, averaging 3.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 10.9 minutes per game. Robinson shot 51.6% from the field and 38.1% from 3-point range.

    Robinson impressed during Las Vegas Summer League play with the Houston Rockets. He averaged 14.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals while shooting 59% from the field.

    Robinson was a second-team All-Mountain West Conference selection after averaging 12.2 points and 6.6 rebounds as a freshman at Fresno State in 2020-21. He was a first-team All-Mountain West selection after averaging 14.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists as a sophomore in 2021-22.

    Robinson spent the 2022-23 season with the Heat on a two-way contract, splitting time between Miami and the G League Sioux Falls Skyforce. The Heat signed Robinson to a standard two-year contract prior to the 2023-24 season. He became an unrestricted free agent after being waived on July 7.
