An already successful local business owner is weeks away from opening the first-ever full-service restaurant on the banks of Lake Tuscaloosa. Justin Holt owns Southern Ale House in north Tuscaloosa, which celebrated 10 years of service earlier this year, and also recently opened the Deli Press, a newspaper-themed sandwich shop across McFarland Boulevard from his first restaurant.
All-terrain vehicle crash kills man in Cherokee County
A Centre man has died following an accident in an all-terrain vehicle in Cherokee County on Friday evening. Scott F. Wade, 51, was killed after his ATV left the road and hit an embankment. He was thrown from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Police: Millbrook couple arrested after three-year-old daughter tests positive for drugs
Millbrook police say a couple faces charges of chemical endangerment of a child after their three-year-old daughter tested positive for drugs. Police Chief P.K. Johnson says his office received information from the Elmore County Department of Human Resources about a child endangerment case. He says detectives were told that a Millbrook couple, later identified as 29-year-old Hollie Moen and 31-year-old Mitchell L. Harrison, had both tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana during a DHR investigation.
New Tallassee businesses could lead to more
Recruiting new business in Tallassee is paying off right now. In a matter of a couple weeks, two new businesses have opened in downtown Tallassee with posts of another coming soon and a regional franchise has opened an automatic car wash on Gilmer Avenue. It comes after the City of Tallassee has spent years trying to replace utilities downtown and dress it up.
