A New Popeyes in Saginaw has Received City Approval

Saginaw Charter Township has approved a new Popeyes restaurant at 3828 Bay Road and construction has begun. The story was originally seen on MLive . Currently, no anticipated opening date or construction timeframe is available.

Plans for the Bay Road Popeyes have sat at the planning commission for quite a while, since June of last year. Documents submitted indicate the buildout of a 2,515-square-foot restaurant with a drive-through and associated site improvements. The site is next to Gordon Food Service and in front of a CubeSmart Self Storage.

Application shows the Popeyes will be operated by multi-unit franchisee Aby Mohamed under AbyGroups, Inc . Illinoins-based Mohammed is a seasoned franchise operator of multiple Popeyes, Checkers and Circle K locations.

Popeyes, a fast-casual food chain known for Louisiana-style fried chicken, fried shrimps, and its cajun-flavored side items, recently opened a location in Midland. Another Popeyes can be found at 3355 E. Holland Road in Buena Vista. The chain currently has more than 50 locations in Michigan.

Mohammed had not replied to What Now Detroit ‘s email request for comments by the time of this coverage.
