ST. ALBANS, WV (WOWK) – For some, a job is just part of your day-to-day routine. For others, there are barriers to employment that seem impossible to overcome.

“I think this is a miracle, I think this is a blessing from God that people can do this for others,” says Chynah Tinsley, a mom and Kanawha County native.

Tinsley says that for now, her priority is raising her children, but that the community of St. Albans is in desperate need of change, which is where Prepped and Polished comes in to help.

“We want people to look good, feel good about themselves. Get them motivated to get back into employment,” says Michael Austin, coordinator for Kanawha County American Job Center.

The program provides resources for those in need to get back onto their feet. Thursday’s event prepared applicants for Friday when they will meet with employers to start a new chapter in their lives.

“I graduated from St. Albans. Tt just feels good to be back home and provide something to the community where they can put their best foot forward, especially for employment,” says Austin.

Austin is a St. Albans native who says he enjoys helping people put their best foot forward, one step at a time.

“I think this is just amazing. I really do. St. Albans really needed it,” says Tinsley.
