Alma L. Rice
Alma L. Rice, 94, of Tullahoma, Tennessee, and formerly of Harriman, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Friday July 12, 2024. Alma was born in Lancing, Tennessee, in 1929 to her parents Leoda Lloyd and Gertie Lloyd. She attended secretarial school in Knoxville, Tennessee, and later moved to Harriman to pursue a secretarial/accounting position. In Harriman, she met and married Thomas (Tom) E. Rice and she raised two sons, Thomas (Tom) L. Rice and William (Bill) G. Rice. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, with a smile that lit the room and a passion for dancing. Alma cared deeply for her friends and family and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Harriman.

Mary Frances Copeland Goode, age 93, of Winchester, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems in Winchester. Visitation with the family will be held on, Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Watson Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, in the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson Funeral Home at 1:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow in Cowan Montgomery Cemetery.

Money Being Raised For Kenneth Toney Scholarship Award at MTSU
Members of the Kool Club are raising money for the Kenneth Toney Scholarship Award at Middle Tennessee State University. The Kool Club will hold the 2024 edition of its fundraiser fish fry on Saturday. It happens from noon until 6PM at Reggie’s Place, 215 Johnson Lane in Tullahoma. A fish plate is ten dollars and a fish sandwich is 8 dollars.

Decherd Police Arrest Female on Drug Charges
On Thursday, 7/18/2024, at approximately 8:34 pm, Assistant Chief Paul Bennett conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a registration violation on Hwy 64 and Blue Spring Rd. After further investigation, Assistant Chief Bennett, Sgt. Tyler Womack, and Officer Juana Escalante located multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia along with multiple big and small Ziplock bags commonly used in the packaging and sales of narcotics. Eleven (11) individual baggies containing a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine were recovered from the female passenger identified as Krystal Houghtaling. The total field weight of the methamphetamine was 33.7 grams. Also located in the vehicle were blue oxycodone pills believed to be pressed with fentanyl, alprazolam pills, and a small amount of marijuana. Hydrocodone pills were also recovered from Ms. Houghtaling.
