Dora Jane Bardwell, 88, Huntingburg
Dora Jane (Fawcett) Bardwell, 88, passed away peacefully at her Huntingburg home on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 7:44 p.m. Her sons, Brett and Cam, were at her side. Dora was born September 6, 1935, in Shoals. She attended Shoals Community Schools and graduated a proud Jug Rock in 1953. After High School, she went to work at Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center. While at Crane she met a young sailor by the name of Jimmie Gerald Bardwell. The two married and, after brief stints in Washington, Petersburg and Dale, they settled in Huntingburg. Dora gave up her career at Crane to raise their two boys.
Labor Day Weekend Fest planned for City of Lewisport
The Lewisport City Council met on Thursday evening, July 18th. At last month’s meeting, it was approved for there to be a Labor Day Weekend Fest in downtown Lewisport on Saturday, August 31st. There will be fireworks, a tractor pull and a car show, since those were rained out for the 2024 Annual Lewisport Heritage Festival held in June.

Dawn Marie (James) Mullen, 52, of St. Anthony passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, July 19, 2024 at her home. Dawn was born on July 4, 1972 in Tell City to Nolan and Betty (Miller) James. She was united in marriage with Michael Mullen on August 6, 1994 in St. Anthony of Padua Church in St. Anthony Church.

Ronald A. Schwartz, age 66, of Dubois, Indiana, passed away at 6:59 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at home. Ron was born in Huntingburg, Indiana, on May 16, 1958, to Hilbert and Armilda (Petry) Schwartz. He married Cheryl Nolan on November 24, 1995. She preceded him in death in 2001.
Street Milling & Paving on 2d Street
The Jasper Street Department and CalCar Paving Company will be asphalt milling Gregory Lane on Friday, July 26th, 2024. On Monday, July 29th, 2024 asphalt milling will occur on 2nd Street between Truman Road and Lechner Lane. Paving of these streets will occur following milling and patching of the streets. This work may continue through Thursday, August 1st, 2024. Please do not park on these streets during construction dates. Motorists will have access to these streets during construction but should expect delays. This schedule is subject to weather conditions and any unforeseen problems.
