Wildfire situation in Jasper 'volatile and evolving'
Two wildfires are burning out of control in Jasper. RCMP say it's a volatile and evolving situation. Travis McEwan has been covering the fires from as close as he can get, which was supposed to include a tour from the RCMP late this afternoon. But wildfires don't always co-operate.
Next phase of mid-states corridor underway
The Indiana Department of Transportation has given the green light to the first Tier 2 Study for the Mid-States Corridor Project. This phase will focus on Dubois County to determine the highway’s alignment and access plan. Labor Day Weekend Fest planned for City of Lewisport
The Lewisport City Council met on Thursday evening, July 18th. At last month’s meeting, it was approved for there to be a Labor Day Weekend Fest in downtown Lewisport on Saturday, August 31st. There will be fireworks, a tractor pull and a car show, since those were rained out for the 2024 Annual Lewisport Heritage Festival held in June.

Oscar Mullis, 82, of Siberia
Oscar Mullis, 82, of Siberia, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024 at his home surrounded by family. Oscar was born March 29, 1942 to Emil and Cecelia (Jacob) Mullis. He married Marilyn Kerstiens on April 20, 1963 in St. Meinrad. Oscar was a carpenter and a farmer. He was a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366. Oscar served on the R.E.C and Spencer County Co-Op Board of Directors. He was a salesman for Crow’s-Channel Seed.
