Local law enforcement issues reminder on stop arm violations as new school year nears
Students from Dubois County are preparing to head back to school for the 2024-2025 school year, which means you will see school buses on our roads. The Jasper Police Department, Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Greater Jasper Consolidated School Corporation want to remind everyone to be vigilant for stopped school buses while they are picking up and dropping off students on roadways. You must stop for school buses and don’t attempt to pass. It is the law.

The annual Heartland events are fast approaching, and we are calling on enthusiastic volunteers to join us in making this year’s event a memorable success. Loogootee Celebrates Grand Opening of New Pickleball Courts with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
The city of Loogootee held a special grand opening ribbon cutting at the new pickleball courts yesterday afternoon. There are a few minor things to finish up, but the courts are now ready for play. A good crowd gathered for the special ceremony yesterday, and games were played starting at 5:30 p.m. The new courts were made possible through grant dollars and generous contributions from community members and fundraisers this past year.
St. Croix Bar Owner Faces Felony Assault Charges for Deliberately Hitting Pedestrian with Truck
ST. CROIX — A man is facing felony assault charges after reportedly deliberately “knocking down” a pedestrian on Queen Street.. According to court documents, police were called in on Sunday evening shortly after the incident occurred. They spoke with two witnesses who told them that they saw a brown-colored truck attempt to hit a man that was walking down the road.
