Emmer blasted Democrats' response to the riots in Minneapolis after the police killing of George Floyd and said, ""Donald Trump stands with the people and the police, our men and women in blue -- not with the criminals and the rioters!" During the Twin Cities riots, then-President Trump threatened to send in the military and later took credit for quieting the situation.
