Desloge woman dies in Franklin County motorcycle crash
A Desloge woman died in a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon south of Luebbering, according to the Missouri State Highway patrol. The patrol reported that at approximately 12:30 p.m. Yvonica Waldrop was driving a 2005 Suzuki VS800 on Highway 47 and “failed to negotiate” a curve near Highway FF, causing the motorcycle to travel off the right side of the roadway and strike a tree.

Tammy Allyce (Burton) Hauser, 62, of Cedar Hill died July 8, 2024, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mrs. Hauser graduated from Northwest High School in 1979. She worked at the Chrysler Corp. as well as Northwest High School before retiring to babysit her grandchildren. She was happiest when spending time with her husband, chatting with her family or piddling around the yard followed by her dog. She loved antiques and crime shows, and she joked she had sequins in her soul. She is remembered for her warmth and kindness, even to strangers, and for her vibrant personality and spirited nature. Born Sept. 13, 1961, she was the daughter of Peggy Burton of Byrnes Mill and the late Richard Burton.
Jefferson City tops St. Clair to start Junior SuperZone Tournament
While St. Clair Post 347 was able to add runs late Saturday, it wasn’t able to catch the No. 2 seed in the Junior Legion SuperZone Tournament first round. Jefferson City Post 5 (17-9) defeated St. Clair (2-9) in the opening round of the tournament in Jefferson City, 8-2.

One person dies in crash on Highway 109 in Eureka
One person died in a crash Monday morning in Eureka, authorities said. The two-vehicle crash happened about 5:30 a.m. on northbound Highway 109 near Interstate 44. The Missouri Highway Patrol hasn't released the name of the person who died. No other details of the crash were immediately released.

Developers target 2025 opening for Ellisville apartments
ELLISVILLE — The developers behind a new apartment complex here said they are targeting completion for next summer. Mila Apartments, off Manchester and Clarkson roads, will have 227 apartments, from studios through three-bedroom units, that range in size from 552 to 1,363 square feet. The amenities will include a pool, fitness center and walking paths to the nearby Bluebird Park, according to a release.
St. Louis firefighter pleads guilty to stealing from victim at fatal crash scene
A remorseful St. Louis firefighter confessed Monday in St. Louis County Circuit Court that he stole a wallet and credit card from the scene of a fatal crash. Saying his actions put a “stain on the community and the department,” Arnold S. Britt, 41, of Ballwin, pleaded guilty to both a felony and a misdemeanor.

Wildwood woman among first medical students in LECOM-Mercy Jefferson program
When Olivia Cossins resumes her studies this month as a fourth-year medical student, her commute to school will be a snap compared to her first three years. Cossins, 26, of Wildwood will complete her degree at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, the site of the newly opened Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Midwest Campus.
FHP: Missouri motorcyclist dead in Flagler County after striking back of truck on I-95
PALM COAST, Fla. — A 40-year-old Ballwin, Missouri man has died following a collision with a truck near Palm Coast on Interstate-95 Saturday evening. The crash, where both vehicles were traveling in the center lane, occurred around 11:40 p.m. near mile marker 285 on I-95 northbound, a Florida Highway Patrol report said.

Fallen firefighter receives a final farewell with full honors
Firefighters, family and others bid farewell to Matthew Tobben on Saturday morning in Union, where he grew up and spent most of his career. Tobben, 42, assistant chief with the Boone County Fire Protection District, died early Monday rescuing two people from floodwaters in north Columbia. He was in an inflatable boat with another firefighter and the two distressed individuals when the boat capsized.
