Is it always hot for the Brickyard 400?
Sunday marks the 30th anniversary of the Brickyard 400 and for the first time since 2020 a full 400-mile race. The very first Brickyard 400 ran August 6th, 1994, and for some, they may recollect it was hot. The race ran during the opening week of August for the first 13 years, and that is typically when the heat is at its peak during the summer in Central Indiana.

It was another great day across Central Indiana continuing our stretch of below normal temperatures, the third consecutive day in that territory. We will add another for your Sunday and plenty of days into next week as well. The weekend will end dry, with a slight haze in the sky.
James Apple
James Apple, born on September 10, 1942, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024, at the age of 81. He was born in Paoli, Indiana, to Max Boyd and Zoe Anna Apple. At the age of nine, James and his family moved to Salem, where his father opened the Apple Drug Store. It was in this store that James's lifelong career as a pharmacist began. As a young boy, he would sweep the sidewalk in front of the store before heading off to school.

ORANGE COUNTY- The Orange County Historical Society will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Historic Lindley House Museum on Saturday, July 27th. The event will be held (weather permitting) at the Thomas Elwood Lindley House in Paoli and will run from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Planned activities include guided house tours, special guests, musical entertainment by Lick Creek Band, arts & crafts, heritage-related activities & more. SOUTHWEST DUBOIS SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
The Southwest Dubois School Corporation held their regular board meeting on Thursday night in preparation for the coming school year. The Corporation announced that it was awarded a 2024 Digital Learning Grant for $50,000. The grant will be used to fund technology and curriculum to support the development of an E- sports program as part of its Digital Citizenship. Additionally, it will be used for Universal Design for a learning tool with Snap and Read, as well as Professional Development with HECC and Gaming Concepts.
