RVBH Back to School Bash – FREE Event on August 2nd
River Valley Behavioral Health in Lewisport is having their Back to School Bash on Friday, August 2nd, and you won’t want to miss it!. The event is from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 1210 4th St., and there will be FREE BBQ, Kona Shaved Ice, inflatables, a Petting Zoo, haircuts for students, backpacks with school supplies for the first 200 students, door prizes for the first 25 teachers who attend, and raffles for a laptop, iPad and more!
French Lick Scenic Railway’s Dinosaur Adventure Train Returns in September
You have two more chances this year to hop on a prehistoric train ride in southern Indiana. The French Lick Scenic Railway hosts sever family-friendly events throughout the year that include the Summer Splash Bash Train and the Polar Express Train Ride. If you have ever been a part of any of these fun events at the French Lick Scenic Railway, you know how memorable and entertaining they are. While both events are happening in 2024 again, there is another really cool event that the railway is hosting this year that you might want to add to your summertime bucket list.
Jasper Municipal Pool Begins to Take Shape
The Jasper Redevelopment Authority convened for a brief meeting on Wednesday morning to discuss some exciting future plans for the new municipal pool. First on the agenda, a claim was approved with Taber Owens Construction Group for the Parks Department. This claim was related to the construction of Jasper’s new municipal pool, which is in progress and currently on schedule for completion by Memorial Day weekend of 2025.

Man killed in early morning crash in Perry Co.
PERRY CO., Ind. (WFIE) - A deadly crash is under investigation in Perry County. Deputies say it happened around 4:20 a.m. Sunday in the 6000 block of Old State Road 237. They say 27-year-old Dalton Ransom, of Magnet, Indiana, was driving a pickup and ran off the road, causing his truck to roll.

Northeast Dubois Schools Prepare for Back to School
School preparations were in full swing for the Northeast Dubois County School Corporation at their regular board meeting on Tuesday night. An adjustment to the school calendars for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years was approved to balance the number of Mondays being missed by preschool classes. Flex PD days from October 21 and March 31 were moved to October 11 and March 21 for the 2024-2025 school year. For the 2025-2026 school year, Flex PD days were moved from October 27 and March 30 to October 17 and March 20. The October 2024 Board Meeting will also be moved from October 15 th , which is during Fall Break, to October 8 th .

Jasper Kiwanis half pot supports Jasper High School Scholarship
Kiwanis President Stu Holland, former Jasper Mayor Bill Schmidt and treasurer Ed Kreilein picked the winner, Kevin Bayer, at Tuesday’s Kiwanis meeting held at the Knights of Columbus. The pot was $1,860 and proceeds will support the scholarships the Jasper Kiwanis awards to Jasper High School students each year. In 2023, the Jasper Kiwanis awarded $3,200 in scholarships.
