Greenville Police Department – Police Reports
On June 18, 2024 at approximately 5:35 PM police responded to the Greenville Police Department in reference to a theft. PO made contact with the complainant, Victor Lapeer, in the department lobby. Victor advised PO that the day prior, Monday June 17, he put his monthly rent of $1,300 cash into a white envelope with the words “Rami Rent Money $1,300 Victor Lapeer”. Victor stated that his landlord, Suhash “Rami” Patel, owns the Baymont Inn motel in town and he usually delivers monthly rent to that location. Victor stated, however, that on June 17 he handed the envelope to his wife, Adrianna Lapeer, who accidently delivered it to the Quality Inn Hotel rather than the Holiday Inn. Victor and Adrianna stated that she arrived at the Quality Inn between 3:00-3:30 PM. They advised that when she walked into the hotel, there was a female at the front desk who was on the phone. They stated that Adrianna set the envelope on the counter and the clerk acknowledged this. They both stated Adrianna then walked out of the business and left. Victor advised he realized this mistake later that night and called the front desk on the morning of the 18th. Victor stated that he spoke directly with a male manager, the name of which he could not remember, of the Quality Inn who advised him that security camera footage had been reviewed. Victor stated this manager watched Adrianna drop off the envelope, the clerk pick it up and take it “to the back office where there are no cameras.” Victor then stated the envelope went missing from that point on. Victor then stated his rent payment was now late and his landlord wanted a police report filed. PO made contact with Suhash by telephone and advised him this incident would be under investigation. Suhash then stated that Victor had told him the same story on June 1st. Suhash stated that Victor was late on his last payment and advised of the same sequence of events, however, that the manager had turned in the missing envelope and money to the Greenville Police Department. According to Suhash, Victor then told him that the PD was refusing to give Victor his “missing money” until it could be confirmed as his property. PO advised Sam that no other report had been filed with GPD. Suhash stated that he had text messages from Victor proving his statements and would be willing to fill out a written statement if needed. PO then made contact with the only current manager of the Quality Inn, Amy Cassity. Amy stated that she was unaware this incident and had never heard of the Lapeers. Amy also advised PO that PO would be welcome to review any camera footage that may be needed, stating all their cameras are in working order. Before PO could review Quality Inn’s camera footage, Victor called to speak with PO. In the almost 20 minute long phone call, Victor stated that Suhash had lied to PO about his side of events. Victor also stated that Suhash was trying to evict them from the property. During this phone call, Victor made comments and asked questions that alluded to the idea that he and his wife’s statements may have been falsified. These comments include Victor bringing up filing false reports and questions in reference to subsequent charges. Victor also called later that evening to speak with the PO, who was in charge. He made comments to the PO such as, “what if I find it in my van or something in the next few days? Will I still be charged?” On Friday June 21, at approximately 12:05 PM hours, Victor called to speak with PO. He stated that there was “miscommunication” on he and his wife’s behalf reference the original report. Victor stated that he was able to locate all of the missing money, still in the original envelope, outside of the Quality Inn. Victor stated he no longer wanted to pursue the original report since the money was located. Victor and Adrianna’s written statements will be attached to this report. There will be no charges filed in reference to the original felony theft, or filing false reports at this time.
