ROSEAU BEATS CROOKSTON 4-3, CROOKSTON NOW TAKES ON MIDDLE RIVER
The Crookston American Legion Post 20 Nels T. Wold Baseball team had a familiar first-round tournament opponent. They took on Roseau Post 24 in the first round of the Northwest North Sub-state tournament semi-final game in Ada. The two teams met in the first round of the MSHSL Section 8AA first-round playoff game, and Roseau scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Crookston 1-0 with a combined four hits in the game. The Legion tournament game was more of the same as Crookston took a 3-0 lead after four innings before Roseau scored three unearned runs in the fourth inning and added another run in the sixth inning for a 4-3 come-from-behind victory.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, at Silver Creek near Thief River Falls. The Rev. Kristin Ostercamp will officiate. Burial will follow in Silver Creek Cemetery.

Following Sunday’s results at the Sub-State American Legion Baseball Tournaments, the field has been completed for the 2024 Northwest Sub-State Tournament in Red Lake Falls Jul 25-28. South Division qualifiers are #1 seed – DGF, #2 seed – Wadena, #3 seed – New York Mills, and #4 seed – Hawley. From the North, Fosston is #1, Warroad is #2, Red Lake Falls is #3, and Roseau is #4.

Post 30 took game one, 2-1, before falling in game two, 6-3. “We didn’t have our best games today,” reported Head Coach Trevor Larson. “We were sloppy in the field in game one, committing 5 errors, but Levi King found his way out of jams. Offensively, we couldn’t find the gig hits to put together big innings in game two. We didn’t do ourselves any favors either, by walking 7 guys in the game.
