Leslie Raymond Swanson, 70
Roseau- Leslie Raymond Swanson was born on September 13th, 1953 in Warren, the son of Raymond A. Swanson and Alice M. (Chruszch) Swanson. He was raised in Warren, confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and graduated from Warren High School in 1971. He graduated college from the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, N.D. with a degree in architectural drafting in 1975.

Margaret "Marge" Berget Richards was born in Oklee, Minnesota. She died of multiple myeloma on May 29, 2024 at her home in Sun City, Arizona. She grew up in Oklee, Minnesota and graduated from Oklee High School in 1956. Marge attended college at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul campus and graduated with a major in home economics in 1960.
Betty Ann Thompson, 99
Thief River Falls- Betty Thompson passed away on July 02, 2024 at the TRFCC in Thief River Falls. Betty Ann Ingvalson was born on June 1, 1925, to Joseph and Ella Ingvalson in Beltrami. In 1941 her family moved to Roseau County. She graduated from Badger High School in 1942.
John Alvin Brolsma
Brolsma, John Alvin John Alvin Brolsma, 90, passed away on July 3, 2024, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born on October 26, 1933, in Crookston, Minnesota, John was the youngest child of Clara and George Brolsma and the last surviving sibling of seven. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Anderson (Brian), from his first marriage. John proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years. Upon returning home, he married Margaret Duval on December 2, 1957. Together, they shared 66 years of marriage filled with family, laughter, and countless memories. A man of many talents, John worked various jobs before finding his true calling in the remodeling business. In 1972, he founded his own remodeling company, which he successfully ran until his retirement at the age of 72. In retirement, John pursued his passions for hunting, woodworking, and gardening. He found great joy in these activities and cherished the time spent outdoors and in his workshop. John was a social man who loved spending time with family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and his trademark sense of humor. Despite his illness, John's kindness and sense of humor never wavered. John is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; his daughters, Natalie Boelter (Wade) and Lisa Brolsma; his sons, Tim Brolsma (Joan) and Pat Brolsma (Sherri); his grandchildren, Allicia, Kelly (Mike), Rachel (Kirby), Danielle, Paige, Christy (Jake), Alex, and Brady; and his great-grandsons, Zion and Kash. John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose legacy of love, kindness, and humor lives on in the hearts of his family. A celebration of John's life will be held at a later date. The family extends a special thank you to NC Little Hospice, Beyond Hospice, and the VA oncology team for their loving support. John will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever be cherished.

BCA Identifies Officers Involved in Fatal Shooting of Christopher Ryan Junkin in Crookston
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has now identified the officers involved in the fatal Crookston incident on June 30. As reported by a state publication, Officer Nick Fladland discharged his Taser and service weapon during the altercation, which resulted in the death of 44-year-old Christopher Ryan Junkin. The University of North Dakota Forensic Pathology ruled Junkin's death a result of multiple gunshot wounds.
