SHEPHERDSTOWN — The professional baseball career of WVU infielder JJ Wetherholt can begin after he signed a contract that contained a $6.8 million dollar bonus. It was the St. Louis Cardinals who selected Wetherholt in the first round of the just-completed draft of amateur players. The Mars, Pa. native was the seventh player selected in the first round.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va (WV News) — A 2-out rally in the bottom of the sixth inning helped Morgantown Post 2 pull just enough together to win it in the final frame. Winning 2-1, Post 2 moved past South Charleston Post 94 in the seventh inning Friday night. The win places Post 2 deeper into the winners’ bracket of the American Legion state baseball tournament while Post 94 falls into the elimination chamber.
Matthew Molnar Sentenced For Sexually Exploiting Minors
Hagerstown resident Matthew Molnar was sentenced to 30 years in prison, followed by 15 years of supervised release for the sexual exploitation of a child. According to prosecutors, in 2015, Molnar was convicted of possession of child pornography, and between 2020 and 2021, he was in touch with a minor in Florida, who he coerced into producing sexually explicit videos for him.

On July 11, Jim Britenbaugh of Fairfield, Pennsylvania, landed a 12-pound, 6-ounce largemouth bass measuring 25 inches while practicing for a tournament. HARPERS FERRY – After a successful first event last year, Junior Mentoring Programs (JuMP) is bringing back their color run a little earlier this year.
