Collision near the Twin Cities involved a driver from Dodge County
MCLEOD COUNTY, Minn. - A Dodge County duo was involved in a two-vehicle accident Saturday west of the Twin Cities. It happened around 11:43 am in McCleod County. The Minnesota State Patrol says Nancy Ann Prins, 63 of Hayfield, was driving a 2016 Nissan Rogue north on Highway 15 when she stopped to allow a vehicle in front of her to turn. A northbound 2012 Toyota Prius driven by Hikaru Nakagawa, 24 of New Ulm, then crashed into Prins. The collision happened near the intersection with 110th Street.

Market vendors share their stories
FAIRMONT — The summer season is progressing, and so are vendors at this year’s Fairmont Farmers’ Market. Several shop owners have served the Farmers’ Market for years, providing home-baked and garden-grown goods to local consumers. Since the county has reached significantly warmer (and fairly rainy) climates, owners and customers alike have been bustling and flocking to the 5 Lakes Centre Mall to take a gander at a wide, diverse collection of distributed goods and indulge their summer shopping list.
Weather woes challenge area golf courses
FAIRMONT – It is the season for golf – or at least it should be. The persistent rain we have seen this year has put a significant pause on multiple courses from opening completely or even at all. Courses like the 18-hole Interlaken are operating with only the back nine available to play.
Lakefield pool honoring Windom season passes
Due to the flooding at Island Park, the rest of the season at the Windom Pool is in doubt. The floodwaters got into the pool, meaning the pool will need to be emptied and deep cleaned before it can potentially be refilled. However, that cannot happen until floodwater completely recedes from the area.

While flood waters have consumed portions of Windom (mainly Island Park, which is completely closed), the rest of Cottonwood County seems relatively un-phased as of last Friday afternoon. New Ulm man run over by tractor while removing trees at campground
NEW ULM, Minn. — A man suffered serious injuries Wednesday evening after being run over by a tractor in southern Minnesota.The Brown County Sheriff's Office says it received multiple 911 calls from Shirley's Park reporting a person had been run over by a tractor at 6:25 p.m.A 57-year-old man from New Ulm was operating the loader tractor for tree removal and had been standing in front of the right rear tractor tire when it jumped into a forward gear, running him over, investigators say. He was transported to the hospital by air ambulance.The operatorless tractor continued moving, striking a nearby camper and two vehicles.A 72-year-old woman from Texas also suffered minor injuries after being struck by an unknown object.The incident is under investigation.
Churches bolster relief efforts
Many local churches in the Windom area have stepped up to meet needs both in their own congregation and outside of the faith community. The volunteer efforts are very diverse and range from helping sandbag and loading up debris to making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and providing lunches and support for other local relief workers.
