Burmeisters to celebrate 50th anniversary
TRUMAN — An open house celebration to honor the 50th wedding anniversary of Dennis and Sylvia Burmeister of Truman, will be held 1-4 p.m. Saturday, July 27 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman. They were married July 27, 1974, in Mound, Minn.
Davis, Sanders cruise to wins in USMT Series
FAIRMONT — The United States Modified Touring Series on Thursday night at Fairmont Raceway saw Tyler Davis and Rodney Sanders taking the top prizes. The USMTS bracket was broken up into three heats and two feature races with points being awarded based on positioning at the end of the race; these points are tracked across all events with the top ten in the series advancing for a shot at the national championship.

School board to meet Monday
The Windom Area School Board will hold its monthly work session Monday, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the Windom City Hall council chambers. The Windom Post 206 Sr. Legion baseball team will open the Southwest Sub-State Division II playoffs today in Luverne. Windom takes on Sleepy Eye at 11 a.m. Win or lose, Windom will play again on Friday against either St. James or Minneota. Cancer survivors to be honored and celebrated on Tuesday

Sleepy Eye’s Avenue of Flags fly Tuesday at Home Cemetery. The memorial goes up with volunteer help on special occasions during the year with flags in honor of 500 deceased veterans. Organizer Suzanne Kral said she decided to bring out the flags this week because they didn’t get up for the Fourth of July due to weather, and to coincide with the Sleepy Eye Baseball Association and American Legion’s Military Appreciation Night on Tuesday at the ballpark. 1956 Class Reunion
The St. James High School graduating class of 1956 held their 68th reunion on Saturday, June 22. They met for reminiscing and dinner at South Fork County Club. There were eight people to represent the original 86 students. One person, Karen Bergman had to cancel because high water in the area caused her road to close. Sleepy Eye FFA competed with 45 teams from Central and Southeastern Minnesota in the 10th annual Hubbards Sunshine swine judging contest at the Hubbards Research Farm near Mankato. Individuals who represented Sleepy Eye were Paul Krienke who placed as second high individual, Pat Krenz, James Paulson, and Gary Peterson. Sleepy Eye tied for first place team with Jackson and Lakefield.
