UHD marks building completion
FAIRMONT– Several hundred community members showed up to celebrate the grand opening of United Hospital District’s (UHD) Fairmont Clinic on Wednesday evening. The Blue Earth-based independent health care system has been working on the Fairmont facility since the end of 2021 when it was announced a purchase agreement was reached with the former Dulcimer Medical Center.

Sleepy Eye’s Avenue of Flags fly Tuesday at Home Cemetery. The memorial goes up with volunteer help on special occasions during the year with flags in honor of 500 deceased veterans. Organizer Suzanne Kral said she decided to bring out the flags this week because they didn’t get up for the Fourth of July due to weather, and to coincide with the Sleepy Eye Baseball Association and American Legion’s Military Appreciation Night on Tuesday at the ballpark. WINDOM, Minn. (KEYC) -Residents affected by flooding are now left to pick up the pieces. ”I think there’s hope but also people are kind of hopeless. Insurance isn’t covering a lot so it’s devastating to some of these people who have to figure out how to replace everything,” said Windom resident and volunteer organizer Hilary Mathis.
Legion honors 50 year members
The Springfield American Legion Post No. 257 recognized and honored their 50 year members last month. Six local men, Warren Hauger, Grant Lade , Wayne Rice, Bruce Runck, John Ryan and John Zihlke were honored this year for 50 continuous years of membership in Springfield’s American Legion post. First Congregational UCC will be selling Heavenly Delights from 5-7 p.m. tonight, July 19, outside of The Hub, 103 W. 1st St. in Fairmont. Free will donation. Part of the proceeds will help buy a pig through the Heifer Project. Welcome talks tree planting
WELCOME — The Welcome City Council met Tuesday evening and there was a discussion of the trees to be planted in Welcome to replace the ash trees that were removed this spring. According to the grant given Welcome, a tree should be planted for every tree removed on city property. Welcome residents have a choice of kinds of trees as long as they are not ash or maple. There are many maple trees in Welcome and the ash is vulnerable to the ash borer.
